Volunteer NOW!

Complete Your Application

Below is a roadmap to meet all program entry requirements prior to beginning your volunteer service with SGMC Health. Please note that our volunteer onboarding is a constant process. Once your application is received, it will be held until the next rounds of meet and greet appointments are made. You will be contacted by email or phone to schedule your meet and greet. Please be sure to check your email prior to calling on the status of your application. Below is a snapshot, pending conditions of our organization’s business, of what occurs throughout each month to allow you a solid perspective of how the application/selection/onboarding will work.

  • Applications are reviewed weekly throughout the month. Communication about the receipt of the applications is made via email and/or phone.
  • Depending on the volume of applicants, group meet and greets held once monthly on a Tuesday at 1pm may vary. The Volunteer Services Coordinator will communicate via email and/or phone with a specific date.

“Meet and Greet”

Meet and greet sessions are conducted with Volunteer Services so that we can get to know a little bit about each other in a group setting. During this time we will review areas of interest for placement, times you will be available to volunteer, and answer any questions you may have. Please allow one hour of time to be present for your meet and greet.

After the meet and greet concludes, and it is determined that you are a good fit for the Auxiliary, the background check information will be submitted to Human Resources and can take up to 2 weeks for successful completion.

Complete your application.

Health Screening/Credentials

When Volunteer Services has received clearance on the background check, you will receive an email with information guiding you on next steps. The following immunizations are mandatory before you may start volunteering and will be no cost to you.

You will go to Human Resources first and obtain your ID badge. From there, you will go directly across the hall to Employee Health and receive your mandatory TB skin test, flu vaccination, and COVID vaccinations (when applicable).  The TB skin test is a 2 step process with the final result being read 2 days after you complete the 1st step. Employee Health will provide you with the information you need to successfully complete this step.

Orientation/Placement

Upon completion of all program entry requirements, you will receive a final email from Volunteer Services that will include a Service Description detailing all that you need to know about your placement and expectations while on shift. This form will need your initials and signature indicating that you understand the duties required of you while on shift.

We welcome you to our Volunteer program and look forward to a long and satisfying relationship with you. It is our goal to make your volunteer service a fulfilling and memorable experience for you and those we serve.
