The hospital introduced the Pet Therapy program in 2003. Currently, we are seeking handlers and their friendly canines to join our initiative to provide service and care to patients and staff seeking visits. Pet Therapy is believed to be a healing experience for patients. Visiting with animals can help people feel less lonely and depressed, provide a refreshing change from the daily routine, and offer love and affection that some patients and staff may miss from their own pet.
To qualify, the handler must provide proof of Pet Therapy Certification from a nationally recognized organization. Additionally, there are other hospital-related requirements that must be met.
