The Tree House Thrift Shop presents a $115,000 check to Hospice of South Georgia alongside team members, volunteers, and board members.

Hospice of South Georgia (HOSG), an affiliate of SGMC Health, is honored to receive a $115,000 contribution from the Tree House Thrift Shop for the past year’s proceeds. This contribution, presented following National Hospice and Palliative Care Month, highlights the critical role community support plays in sustaining hospice care services.

As Valdosta’s only not-for-profit hospice, HOSG is committed to providing care to patients regardless of financial circumstances. This annual donation ensures that those facing chronic and life-limiting illnesses receive the compassionate support they deserve.

The Tree House Thrift Shop, a cornerstone of HOSG’s fundraising efforts, has been serving the community since its founding in 2013. Operated by dedicated staff and volunteers, the store offers an ever-changing selection of donated clothing, furniture, and home goods, with proceeds directly supporting hospice patient care. Over the past decade, The Tree House has contributed more than $700,000 to further HOSG’s mission.

“This generous donation represents the hard work and commitment of our Tree House team and the incredible generosity of the Valdosta community,” said Amanda Mason, Director of HOSG. “Every dollar raised helps us extend care to patients and families during some of the most challenging times in their lives. We are deeply thankful to everyone who made this achievement possible.”

To celebrate this milestone, employees, board members, and volunteers from The Tree House, HOSG, and SGMC Health gathered for a special check presentation. The funds raised will enhance HOSG’s ability to provide free resources such as in-home palliative care, grief counseling, and specialized hospice programs that prioritize dignity, comfort, and quality of life.

“Palliative and hospice care go beyond medical treatment,” Mason added. “It’s about supporting patients holistically—offering physical, emotional, and spiritual care to help them and their families find peace and meaningful moments together.”

The Tree House Thrift Shop, located at 418 Northside Drive in Valdosta, invites community members to shop, donate, or volunteer to support its mission. Donations of gently used items are welcome, and free pick-up services are available for large contributions.
