SGMC Chief Development Officer Jeff Edwards, Dr. Cliff Thomas, Dr. Kyle Adams, Dr. Laura Guadiana Sanchez and Partnership Health Center Chief Executive Officer John Sparks at the March meeting of the Hospital Authority of Valdosta Lowndes County, GA. The Hospital Authority of Valdosta-Lowndes County recognized SGMC family medicine physicians Drs. Kyle Adams, Laura Guadiana Sanchez, and Clifton Thomas as hospital heroes for March. As SGMC worked toward solidifying and executing plans to open a family medicine practice, these physicians demonstrated great flexibility in skill utilization. Each readily accepted the opportunity to become involved with the South Georgia Partnership for Health (SGPH) organization, providing patient care to the uninsured residents of Valdosta. In conjunction with the efforts of the complete Partnership for Health team, the wait time for an appointment with that clinic decreased from three-weeks to same-day appointments. As the time drew near for their own family medicine clinics to open, SGPH asked Drs. Thomas, Adams, and Guadiana Sanchez if one would be interested in becoming its Medical Director. All three wanted to remain involved with the organization and currently share the Medical Director role on a voluntary basis. “Thanks to their willingness to be flexible, the three physicians contributed to the care of the uninsured patients of Valdosta, had the opportunity to quickly meet other care givers in the community, and continue to contribute through their involvement with the Partnership for Health in a voluntary capacity,” said SGMC Chief Development Officer Jeff Edwards. “They each deserve the honor of Hospital Hero.” Drs. Kyle Adams, Laura Guadiana Sanchez, and Clifton Thomas join Dr. Dennis Thomas at the SGMC Family Medicine offices, adjacently located at 3386 and 3374 Greystone Way in Valdosta. Patients can schedule appointments during the office hours of 8am to 5pm, Monday thru Friday, by calling 229-433-8181.
