SGMC Health is excited to welcome Colby Ruiz, MD, vascular surgeon to the health system.
Dr. Ruiz specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of vascular disease, addressing a wide range of conditions affecting arteries and veins throughout the body. His expertise spans from diagnosing vascular diseases using advanced imaging techniques to providing both minimally invasive and surgical interventions. His practice includes treating aortic aneurysms, foot wounds, and ensuring optimal access for hemodialysis in patients with kidney disease.
“As a surgeon, I prioritize empathy and treating each patient as if they were my own family,” said Dr. Ruiz. “I believe in having honest conversations with my patients to fully understand their goals and develop personalized treatment plans.”
Dr. Ruiz’s journey back to SGMC Health is a homecoming rooted in his deep connection to the Valdosta community. “SGMC Health holds a special place in my heart; it’s where I first discovered my passion for medicine as a youth volunteer,” he shared. After completing his medical education at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, followed by vascular surgery residency at UNC Chapel Hill, Dr. Ruiz is excited to return to his hometown with his wife Lauren and their growing family.
