SGMC Health has once again been recognized for its exceptional commitment to treating in-hospital cardiac arrest, receiving the American Heart Association’s Resuscitation Gold Adult Get With The Guidelines award for the tenth consecutive year. This prestigious accolade underscores SGMC Health’s dedication to improving patient survival rates through exemplary cardiac care.
Each year, over 300,000 adults and children experience in-hospital cardiac arrest, according to the AHA. Survival in these critical situations is heavily reliant on the swift response of medical emergency teams and the effectiveness of CPR.
The Get With the Guidelines-Resuscitation program is designed to save the lives of patients experiencing in-hospital cardiac arrests by adhering to the latest research-based protocols. These guidelines emphasize patient safety, prompt medical emergency team response, effective CPR, and comprehensive post-resuscitation care.
“Receiving this award for the tenth consecutive year is a testament to the unwavering dedication and exceptional skill of our healthcare professionals. Our team’s commitment to following the latest, evidence-based practices ensures that we provide the highest standard of care to our patients,” said Pankaj Agrawal, MD, Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer at SGMC Health.
In addition to this achievement, SGMC Health recently became Georgia’s newest Level I Emergency Cardiac Care Center. It operates the region’s only open-heart program, structural heart and valve center, and cardiac electrophysiology program, all of which have received recognition from both the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association.
