SGMC Health recognized Eddie Jussely as health system hero at its monthly board of directors meeting. Jussely, a dedicated team member in the scheduling department, exemplified extraordinary compassion and commitment to patient care through his actions, making him a deserving recipient of this recognition.
Recently, a patient called to schedule an appointment with an office located on the second floor of the professional building. The patient expressed her fear of using the elevator. Instead of simply offering words of comfort, Jussely took it upon himself to personally ensure her safety and comfort. He provided the patient with his direct phone number and assured her that he would escort her to her appointment and return to accompany her when she was finished.
When her appointment ran late, the patient called Jussely, concerned that it was close to the end of his shift. However, his response was heartfelt and clear: he would not leave her, no matter how late her appointment went. At 6:00 p.m., well after his shift had ended, Jussely was there waiting to take the elevator with her and walk her safely back to her vehicle.
The patient expressed her deep gratitude, saying, “I want to make sure everyone knows how wonderful he is and how safe and loved he made me feel.”
“We are honored to have individuals like Eddie on our team who consistently go above and beyond the call of duty,” said Brenda Alexander, Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer. “His commitment to patient-centered care truly embodies the values we strive to uphold. Eddie’s act of kindness not only reflects his dedication to his role but also his deep compassion for the patients we serve.”
Jussely received a standing ovation from those in attendance.
