Patients at SGMC Health now have the convenience of accessing, storing, and sharing their medical imaging records through PocketHealth. This patient-centric platform eliminates the need for CDs, allowing patients to effortlessly manage their diagnostic imaging and reports on their own device.

Chuck Marshburn, Vice President and Chief Information Officer, highlights how this technology enhances the patient experience, providing faster and more secure access to high-quality medical images. It empowers patients to take a more active role in their healthcare journey.

“Eliminating the need for patients to physically come to our facility to collect their images on a CD is a significant process improvement for both our patients and their physicians. With PocketHealth, patients can download and share their imaging via fax at no cost, all through the easy-to-use SGMC Health patient portal,” Marshburn shares.

Recognizing the importance of advanced imaging technologies, SGMC Health has also made significant enhancements to imaging modalities across the system. With more than 190,000 images processed annually, these technologies not only aid in diagnosis but also significantly contribute to treatment planning and monitoring patient progress.

SGMC Health has invested $16 million in imaging across its hospital campuses over the past four years.

According to Senior Vice President and Chief Operations Officer Randy Smith, the decision to invest in imaging infrastructure reflects a strategic approach to meet the growing healthcare needs of the region.

“By incorporating state-of-the-art imaging equipment, such as MRI, CT, Mammography, and Ultrasound, we ensure that patients receive timely and accurate diagnoses by providing higher quality imaging and improved accuracy enabling the detection of early-stage diseases and conditions,” shared Smith. “Additionally, these advanced technologies make the procedure faster and safer and pave the way for effective treatment interventions and long-term health benefits.”
