SGMC Health and LifeSouth Host 3rd Annual Winnersville Classic Blood Drive

Posted on: October 16th, 2024

Does your blood run black and gold or crimson and white? SGMC Health and LifeSouth Community Blood Centers are excited to present the 3rd Annual Winnersville Classic Blood Drive. This exciting competition, held in partnership with Valdosta City Schools and Lowndes County Schools, promises to be a fierce fight to save lives.

The week-long event will take place at multiple locations during Winnersville Week, from Monday, October 28 through Friday, November 1 utilizing Lifesouth’s Bloodmobile. The blood drive seeks to rally students, faculty, and community supporters of both school systems to roll up their sleeves and give the gift of life in honor of the Wildcats or Vikings.

The team that collects the most blood will be announced at the Winnersville football game on Friday, November 1. All donors will receive a special Winnersville Classic t-shirt as a token of appreciation.

The drives will be held at the following locations:

  • Monday, October 28 – Lowndes County Board of Education, 9am-4pm
  • Tuesday, October 29 – SGMC Health Main, 9am-5pm
  • Wednesday, October 30 – Valdosta High School, 8am-3:30pm
  • Thursday, October 31 – Wiregrass Georgia Technical College, 9am-4pm
  • Friday, November 1 – CBC Bank, N Valdosta Rd, 9am-4:30pm

The primary goal of the event is to boost blood donations that will remain in the Valdosta area, directly supporting friends, neighbors, and the community. LifeSouth is the exclusive supplier of blood to patients at SGMC Health, making this partnership essential for maintaining a consistent and reliable blood supply for those in need.

Blood donors must be at least 17 (16 with parental permission), weigh at least 110 pounds, and be in good health. A photo ID is also required.
