Valdosta, GA – SGMC, Kohl’s Department Store, the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department and Safe Kids Lowndes County will be hosting Bike Smart- a bike safety and bike rodeo program on Saturday, April 25 from 9am to 11am in SGMC’s Surgery Center parking lot. This event is for children ages 5-12. Children will receive hands-on instruction in bike safety and learn how to wear a bike helmet properly. Education will also be provided on bike laws and street safety. Children that participate should bring their bike to the event. They will receive a fitted bike helmet, water bottle, t-shirt, and a chance to win a bike. Registration is required and can be completed by calling 229.333.1071. Sponsored by Kohl’s department stores nationwide, the Kohl’s Cares program affords shoppers in each of its stores the opportunity to purchase lovable, huggable plush toys and books for $5 each. The profit from these sales goes to benefit local hospital partners like South Georgia Medical Center.
