| “I was hospitalized last March with low blood pressure and was ready to go home. I am somewhat stubborn and, being a nurse, I am not good at being a patient. Dr. Garcia wanted me to have a cardiac stress test prior to leaving and of course, I did not think it was necessary. He persuaded me that I should since I have several conditions that put me at risk for heart disease. I had the stress test that day, and then a cardiac catheterization which lead to me having open heart surgery the very next day with a 5-vessel cardiac bypass. Dr. Garcia was my guardian angel. I have told him many times that he saved my life that day. Had it not been for his knowledge, and the ability to communicate with his patients, along with his kind demeanor, I might not be here today enjoying my life, my family, and my grandchildren.
