David Retterbush, MD

David W. Retterbush, MD, FACS, FACG has practiced General Surgery at SGMC Health since 1982. He graduated from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, GA and then completed a general surgery residency at the University of Louisville and Affiliated Hospitals in Louisville, Kentucky under the chairmanship of Hiram C. Polk, Jr, MD. Dr. Retterbush was also a Clinical Fellow of the American Cancer Society while at the University of Louisville. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and American College of Gastroenterology. He has received the Physician’s Recognition Award with Commendation by the American Medical Association.

An award winning landscape and sports photographer, Dr. Retterbush takes part in annual surgical mission trips to Guatemala with the organization Faith in Practice.  Away from work, his most enjoyable moments are those spent with his family.
