This program is dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals with chronic respiratory diseases. Our comprehensive program is designed to help you breathe easier, increase your physical activity, and manage your condition effectively.
Our program is ideal for individuals with chronic respiratory conditions such as:
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
- Emphysema
- Chronic bronchitis
- Pulmonary fibrosis
- Post-lung surgery recovery
Program Components
- Tailored exercise routines to improve cardiovascular fitness and endurance.
- Learn about your condition, medication management, and breathing techniques.
- Guidance on maintaining a healthy diet to support lung health.
- Regular monitoring of your progress with adjustments to your plan as needed.
Eligibility Criteria
- A specific respiratory diagnosis (chronic airways obstruction, ICD-9 code 496)
- A pulmonary function test showing an FVC <65%, or FEY 1 <65%, or DLco <65% of predicted (some insurers use FVC or FEV1 or DLco <60%)
- Documentation (recent history and physical examination) that activities of daily living have been adversely affected
- Cognitive ability and willingness to participate
- The patient must be a nonsmoker, have quit, or be willing to participate in a smoking cessation program concurrently.
