SGMC Risk Manager Susan Hurley was awarded the Most Valuable Employee by the Valdosta Lowndes County Chamber of Commerce. The award, presented by TeamTemps Personnel Staffing, recognizes an individual who possesses impressive job knowledge and extraordinary work ethics, while demonstrating commendable effort in the workplace. Hurley, a 27-year hospital employee, began her career as a registered nurse but has served as the Risk Manager for the past 17 years. Hurley is certified in Quality, Risk and HIPAA Privacy Compliance and actively participates in state and national professional societies. Hurley has a passion for improving clinical processes and tirelessly strives to support SGMC’s goal of providing safe and trusted healthcare. Her involvement with SGMC’s transition from multiple health records to a single Electronic Medical Record platform (EPIC) tops her list as one of the most important changes in healthcare delivery since her employment with SGMC.
