SGMC Health recognizes Todd Daniel, Assistant Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Chief, for his recent completion of the 2023 Georgia EMS Directors and Management Leadership Program. This prestigious initiative is designed to enhance the leadership skills of EMS professionals across the state.
The program, funded by the Georgia Trauma Care Network Commission in collaboration with Georgia Southern University and the Georgia Emergency Medical Services Association (GEMSA), celebrated the graduation of its 2023 class, marking the completion of the 12th year of this project.

The comprehensive program consisted of four week-long modules conducted at various locations across Georgia, including Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Rome, and Pine Mountain. Daniel and fellow participants had the unique opportunity to engage with state-level public and community health officials, attend workshops and lectures led by subject matter experts, and participate in tours at each module location. To supplement classroom activities, the program also included online discussion groups and training sessions between modules.
The Georgia EMS Leadership Program aims to equip EMS directors and management professionals with the necessary skills to excel in their roles. Graduates of the program, including Daniel, are eligible to join the Georgia EMS Leadership Alumni group. This alumni group provides a platform for continued networking, collaboration, and leadership development, further contributing to the advancement of EMS services across the state.
SGMC Health EMS provides 911 response to Lowndes, Lanier, and Echols counties, answering more than 23,000 requests annually. In addition, non-emergency transportation is offered throughout its referral region, resulting in more than 5,000 yearly transports. SGMC Health’s EMS program serves as an integral part of the treatment process for trauma, cardiac, and stroke patients, ensuring rapid identification and swift transport to enhance outcomes in critical situations.
