SGMC Health is spreading holiday cheer once again this Christmas season. Babies delivered during the week of Christmas will be welcomed into the world with extra love, receiving handmade stockings and crocheted Santa hats lovingly created by SGMC Health’s Volunteer Auxiliary.
This heartwarming tradition has been a hallmark of SGMC Health’s holiday season for decades, thanks to the dedication of the Auxiliary members who volunteer their time and talent. For many new parents, these festive keepsakes become treasured mementos of their baby’s first Christmas, often preserved for years as a reminder of the joyous occasion.
SGMC Health delivers approximated 2,000 babies annually, supported by obstetricians, midwives, pediatricians, and the region’s only Level IIB Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). With 24/7 coverage from board-certified neonatologists, SGMC Health’s NICU is equipped to provide advanced care for premature and medically fragile infants.
Looking to the future, SGMC Health’s Women & Infants Tower and Emergency Department is currently under construction and expected to open in late 2026. Central to this expansion is the Women and Infants Center, which will provide specialized prenatal, neonatal, and postnatal care in a state-of-the-art environment. This $150 million investment underscores SGMC Health’s dedication to advancing care for mothers and newborns, ensuring the region’s families have access to the highest quality services and facilities for generations to come.
