Today, Kohl’s store manager Diane Rodgers presented a check totaling $49,499 for children’s outreach.“Kohl’s has been a great supporter of children’s hospitals and children’s health across the country. We are very fortunate to have such a great partner here in Valdosta,” said Elizabeth Vickers, South Georgia Medical Center’s Foundation Director. Through the Kohl’s/SGMC Foundation partnership, a local program called Connecting Kids addresses children’s health and wellness issues on a variety of levels. This year Connecting Kids will make an effort to help fight childhood obesity by supporting the YMCA’s “Food and Fun” program and the Boys and Girls Club’s “Triple Play” program.  Kohl’s Cares funding will be distributed to these two community organizations to provide fruits, vegetables and other healthy snacks for the organization’s after-school programs.Additional programs planned for 2012 include an annual Bike Smart bike safety rodeo in May and a Kids Safety media campaign during the summer months. “With Kohl’s as our biggest corporate community sponsor, we continue to make great strides in the area of children’s wellness and nutrition,” Vickers concluded. “Last year, the generous contribution from Kohl’s purchased physical education equipment for public and private schools in the area.”
