New Directors Named at SGMC

Cindy Vickery, RPhDirector of Pharmaceutical ServicesCongratulations to Cindy Vickery for being named the Administrative Director of Pharmaceutical Services. Vickery has been with South Georgia Medical Center for 25 years, serving as the Operations Manager, Pharmacy Systems Manager and Narcotic Pharmacist. She provides leadership to pharmacy departments, with a goal of integrating operational and clinical services throughout the healthcare system to provide pharmaceutical care in a cost-effective and fiscally responsible manner.

Vickery was appointed by the Lowndes County Commissioners to serve as the Lowndes County Representative on the Community Service Board for Behavioral Health Services and currently serves as Vice Chair. A graduate of the School of Pharmacy at the University of Georgia, Vickery is a member of the South Georgia Pharmaceutical Association, Southeastern Society of Health, Georgia Society of Health, American Society of Health, VHA Georgia Pharmacy Advisory Council and the American College of Healthcare Executives. Cynthia Chaney, RN, BSNAdministrative Director of the Emergency DepartmentSouth Georgia Medical Center welcomes Cynthia Chaney as its Administrative Director of the Emergency Department.

In this role, Chaney provides supervision and management of the emergency department and staff, ensures performance improvement activities and quality outcomes and manages department within established budgetary parameters. She is accountable for basic staff planning, performance and systems functions and taking a collaborative approach with physicians, department heads and health professionals to promote and maintain an environment of quality nursing and patient care.

Chaney plans to utilize her experience to enhance the service and leadership in the ED. Her goals include: selecting highly trained and motivated professionals, providing a setting of support, and aligning department goals with the strategic objectives of the hospital, nursing staff, medical staff and community. Coming to SGMC from the Emergency Department at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Chaney received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2010 from the State University of New York.

She is currently attending Syracuse University’s online program to attain her Master’s Degree in Nursing/Healthcare Administration. Cynthia is a member of Emergency Nurses Administration, American Heart Association and National League for Nursing.
