Physicians Complete Physician Leadership Program at SGMC

Fifteen members of the South Georgia Medical Center Medical Staff recently completed medical staff leadership training conducted by The Institute for Medical Leadership, a consulting firm located in Pacific Palisades, CA. The training consisted of a series of four seminars that were conducted in November, January, March and May, and included interactive sessions with industry experts in the areas of patient safety, quality of care, regulatory compliance, leadership finance, credentialing and governance. Receiving certificates are: Ronald Allen, MD; Derry Crosby, DO; Alberto Garcia, MD; Roberto Garcia, MD; Lynn Lee, MD; Kimberly Megow, MD, CMO; Sonya Merriman, MD; Bipin Patel, MD; George “Pat” Pennington, MD; Hernan Posas, MD; George “Trey” Powell, MD; William Querin, MD;  John Roan, DDS; James Sinnott, MD and Joe Stubbs, MD.According to SGMC’s Chief Medical Officer Kimberly Megow, MD, SGMC is proud to have physicians who will give their time to participate in programs to better equip them to lead and be involved in the process of caring for the health of our population.“Physicians who complete the program are better able to lead the medical staff, which ultimately benefits the patients by ensuring quality, safety, and excellence in all aspects of patient care,” she explains. “As the health care system of our country evolves in the days to come, physicians will be vital and necessary leaders of this process.”The SGMC Medical Staff is the independent governing body that initiates, maintains and enforces rules and regulations for the self-governance of the 300 plus affiliated members of the medical staff. The Medical Staff Executive Committee is the leadership body.
