Georgia Power Foundation donated $10,000 to the South Georgia Medical Center Foundation on Thursday to support its Commit to Innovate Campaign.“An investment in SGMC is an investment in the healthy future of our communities,” said Audrey King, GA Power Regional Director, Southwest Region. “We’re honored to be associated with an organization that places great value in giving back to the communities in which we serve.”

The two charitable Foundations have a 17-year giving history in which GA Power Foundation has supported several funding opportunities with SGMC Foundation. Elizabeth Vickers, SGMC Foundation Executive Director, is proud to add this donation to the Foundation’s Commit to Innovate Campaign. “Donations from our corporate partners not only display the cooperation with our business community but they also play a key role in our ability to enhance programs and services at all of our facilities,” said Vickers.

The Commit to Innovate Campaign is SGMC Foundation’s philanthropic effort to improve access to top-quality patient care. Donations to the campaign will provide funding to four major service lines at SGMC (cancer, cardiovascular/vascular, hospice, and women and children), and the two affiliated campuses in Berrien and Lanier counties. GA Power Foundation also donated an additional $1,500 to SGMC Foundation benefiting the Jay Shaw Scholarship Fund.
